Key Constituency : Rae Bareli

Rae Bareli is an important parliamentary constituency of Uttar Pradesh state due to the reason that congress president and UPA chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi contested from here. She was the sitting MP from this seat and got re-elected with a huge margin of victory of over 300,000 votes. Her main rivals in this election were R S Kushwaha (BSP) and R B Singh (BJP). In total there were 17 candidates in the fray.
