Key Constituency : Tehri Garhwal
Tehri Garhwal is one of the important constituencies of Uttrakhand due to the reason that the Indian Olympic gold medalist Jaspal Rana contested from here as a BJP candidate. He was contesting for the first time for Lok Sabha elections and his main rivals were Vijay Bahuguna (INC) and Munna Singh Chauhan (BSP). In total there were 18 candidates in the fray.
Jaspal Rana lost the election to Vijay Bahuguna.
