Darjeeling is an important parliamentary constituency of West Bengal State due to the reason that BJP's senior leader and former Foreign Minister, Mr. Jaswant Singh contested from here and won the seat. CPM's Jibesh Sarkar was his main rival and in total there were 9 candidates in the fray.
