Key Constituency : Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar is one of the important parliamentary constituencies in Gujarat due to the reason that the BJP's senior leader and Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani contested from here. He won the elections comfortably and retained the seat.

Indian national congress's Suresh Patel was his main rival for the General Elections 2009. Mallika Sarabhai, an eminent social activitist also contested from here as an independent candidate and finished in the third position. In total there were 19 candidates in the fray.
