Kishanganj is one of the important parliamentary constituencies in the state of Bihar due to the reason that senior RJD leader Taslimuddin was contesting from here. He was the sitting MP from this seat and hoping for a re-election but finished third. His main rivals were Asarul Haq (INC) and Syed Mahmood Ashraf (JD-United). In total there were 15 candidates in the fray.

Mohammad Asraful Haque of Congress won the election.
