Vidisha is one of the important constituencies of the state of Madhya Pradesh due to the reason that the senior BJP leader and former cabinet minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj contested from here and won the election comfortably. She was contesting against Dr Premshankar Sharma (BSP), Munabbar Salim Chawdhary(SP) and Raj Kumar Patel (INC) and in tota there were 9 candidates in the fray.
