Mulayam Singh Yadav is a politician from the state of Uttar Pradesh, was born on November 22, 1939 in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. His wife name is Sadhna Gupta (his first wife Malti Devi died) & he has two sons. He did his M.A. & B.T. from Jain Inter College, Mainpuri, Agra University, Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
He became the president of the Lok Dal in 1980 which became a part of the Janata Dal later. Mulayam Singh Yadav first became a state minister in 1977. He was elected as a leader of opposition in Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council in 1982. Currently, he is the president of Samajwadi Party which he launched on October 7, 1992. Three times, he remained the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh State. When he was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, he contested the Lok Sabha 2004 elections from Mainpuri seat, he won the seat and his Samajwadi party won the maximum seats in Uttar Pradesh than all other parties.
His party could not play a big role at the centre because of the Congress Party, who formed the coalition government at the centre and had a majority after the elections. He resigned from Lok Sabha seat and continued as a Chief Minister until 2007, when his party lost in state assembly election to BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party).
He and his party supported the UPA government to get through with the no-confidence motion vote when left parties withdrew their support to UPA government owing to the 123 deal (Nucelar Deal) with USA.
His party joined hand with RLD and LJP to form a pre-poll alliance to fight the 15th Lok Sabha Elections against the BSP, BJP and INC.
He won from Mainpuri constituency with a comfortable margin.
He also won from the Mainpuri seat in 2004 Elections, but resigned and continued as Chief Minister of Uttar pradesh.
