Vinod Khanna

Vinod Khanna, is a renowned Indian cinema actor turned politician, was born on October 6, 1946 in Peshawar (now in Pakistan). He did his graduation from Sydenham College.  He married Gitanjali and has two sons, Akshay & Rahul Khanna (both actors), but, their marriage was ended in divorce during his involvement with Osho.  Later he remarried to Kavita and has one son and a daughter.

Vinod Khanna entered politics in 1997 and joined the BJP. He was given the ticket from Gurdaspur, Punjab in 1998 general elections.  This star factor promoted him to win three times and in July 2002, he became the union minister for culture and tourism.  After six months, he was elevated to one of the important ministeries such as External Affairs ministry.  He again re-elected from Gurdaspur in 2004 General Elections.  Side by side, he is involved in his film business.

In 2009 General elections, he contested from the Gurdaspur constituency and lost the elections. He was a major crowd puller for BJP poll rallies during the run up to the elections.
