Shivsena

Shivsena (SHS) is a registered political party of India and was founded in 1966 by Mr. Balasaheb Thackeray.  Party’s primary base is in Maharashtra but it has a gradual increasing base nationally. Ideology of the party is Hindu Nationalist or pro-Marathi.  Party has been the part of several Maharashtra state governments. Shivsena was also a part of  the  BJP led NDA government at the centre. In the 14th Lok Sabha elections it has 12 members elected for the Indian Parliament as opposed to 15 for the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999.

In 2009 General Elections, Shivsena won 11 seats from Maharashtra. A seat less than the number of seats it won in 2004 General Elections.
