Results : Biennial Elections to the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) from Orissa: June 2010

17th June, 2010, Four contestants were in fray for the biennial elections of three Rajya Sabha seats from Orissa.

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Orissa won all the three Rajya Sabha seats from the state.

The BJD candidates Pyarimohan Mohapatra, Shashi Bhusan Behera and Baishnab Charan Parida were declared elected.

Pyari Mohan Mohapatra and former Sashi Bhusan Behera - secured 37 first preference votes each, while the party's third candidate Baishnab Charan Parida got 36 votes.

The opposition-sponsored independent candidate, Tara Ranjan Patnaik could manage only 33 votes.
