Biennial Elections to the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) from Rajasthan: June 2010

Result : By-election

10th June 2010, Congress nominee Narendra Budhania got elected to the Rajya Sabha Thursday as he was contesting on a seat declared vacant after the death of BJP MP Srikrishan Valmiki.

17th June 2010, There were total of five candidates in the fray, including union minister Anand Sharma from the Congress and eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani from the BJP.

Congress won two seats, Anand Sharma and Ashk Ali Tak with both getting 51 votes each.

In the Rajya Sabha elections, Independent Santosh Bagordia who was expecting to give Ram Jethmalani of BJP a tough fight with Congress support, suffered a humiliating defeat from Rajasthan. Jethmalani got 41 votes against Bagordia's 11.

 

BJP's second candidate V.P. Singh also won getting 41 votes
