Biennial Elections to the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) from Uttar Pradesh: June 2010

10th June 2010, All the 11 candidates in fray for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh were declared elected unopposed today. Returning Officer and Principal Secretary (Assembly) Pradeep Kumar Dubey made the announcement after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations ended at 1500 hrs today.

BSP bagged 7 seats, followed by two of the SP and one each of Congress and BJP.

Earlier, polling for the Upper House was slated to be held on June 17.

The term of the new elected members will start from July 5.

The elected candidates of BSP are :

Satish Chandra Mishra, Jugal Kishore, Ambeth Rajan, Mohammad Saleem Ansari, Naresh Kumar Kashyap, Rajpal Singh Saini and Satyapal Singh

Elected candidates of SP are : Mohan Singh and Rashid Masood

Elected candidates of INC is : Captain Satish Sharma

Elected candidates of BJP is : Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi
