Results Bye Elections 2009 : Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and NCT of Delhi

Bihar State Assembly Bye-election Results:

17th Sept. 2009, The results of bye-elections of 18 Assembly constituencies in Bihar comes as a major setback to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the opposition alliance of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) bagged eight seats in by-elections for 18 assembly seats in the state.

RJD won on Bochaha, Kalyanpur, Phulwarisharief, Aurai and Ramgarh seats while LJP won Warisnagar, Araria and Bodh Gaya seats.

The ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) won three seats (Triveniganj, Bagha and Dhoraiya) and its ally the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got two seats of Begusarai and Chainpur.

Congress (went to polls independently) managed victories in Chenari and Simribakhtiarpur.

14th Spet. 2009, After its poor show in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, BJP on Monday received a boost in the assembly by-polls registering an impressive victory in Gujarat winning 5 out of 7 seats and bagging one seat each in Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The BJP has won seven seats, the Congress four and the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) one when counting for 12 out of 20 Assembly seats in various States, where by-elections were held on September 10, was taken up on Monday.

Gujarat State Assembly Bye-Election Result:

In Gujarat, BJP emerged as a clear winner snatching the previously owned five seats from Congress. Congress could only retain the Dhoraji seat and managed to win the Kodinar seat, which was previously occupied by BJP.

BJP's Bharatbhai Boghra from Jasdan got a majority by 14,774 votes, defeating Congress candidate Bhavnaben Makwana.

The Chotila seat was also won by BJP's Vashrambhai Khorani, who won by a margin of 7,468 votes defeating Congress rival.

BJP candidate Kalyansinh Chauhan won by a margin of 9,468 votes from the Dehgam seat, which was previously occupied by Congress.

The Sami-Harji seat is won by the BJP candidate Bhavsinh Rathod, who defeated Congress rival Dinesh Thakore by a margin of a whooping 24,033 votes.

The North Gujarat's Danta seat was also won by the BJP's Vasant Bhatol beating Congress candidate Noor Ahmed Umatiya by a margin of 4,300 votes.

Congress won the Kodinar seat, its candidate Dhirsinh Barad defeated BJP's candidates by a margin of 7,942 votes.

The Dhoraji seat was also won and retained by the Congress. Its candidate Jayesh Radadiya, defeated the BJP rival by a margin of 15,922 votes.

 

Andhra PradeshState Assembly Bye-Election Result:

In Andhra Pradesh, Congress retained Tekkali seat. The bye-election was necessitated following the death of its MLA K Revathipati. The party candidate Mrs. K Bharati won by around 7,000 votes against her nearest TDP rival K Achhayya Naidu, who secured 52,077 votes.

Madhya Pradesh:

BJP wrested Tendukheda seat from the Congress with its nominee Bhaiyya Ram Patel winning the seat with a comfortable margin of over 13,000 votes.

Congress retained the Gohad assembly seat with its nominee Ranveer Jatav winning by 22,571 votes.

Sikkim State Assembly Bye-Election Result:

In Sikkim, the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front won the Namchi-Singhithang assembly seat leading the party to retain all the 32 seats in the House.

Uttrakhand State Assembly Bye-Election Result:

In the Vikasnagar assembly seat in Uttarakhand, Kuldip Kumar (BJP) defeated his nearest Congress rival Nav Prabhat by 596 votes. While, Kumar got 24,934 votes, Prabhat polled 24,338 votes.
